All Hallows Eve
POSTED AT THE MANOR GATE Notice is hereby given,
In preparation for the observance of All Hallows Eve, the Office of the Manorial Clerk has issued the following regulations concerning the official village bonfire.
The fire shall be lit at dusk on the thirty-first day of October and shall thereafter be maintained at the approved height and width for the duration of the evening.
Measurements shall be undertaken using the Official Bonfire Measuring Rope, to be issued by the Office of the Manorial Clerk immediately prior to ignition.
The Office acknowledges that the rope will, in all probability, be thrown into the fire.
A replacement rope has therefore been prepared.
Should the bonfire at any point fall below, exceed, or otherwise fail to comply with its approved dimensions, all able-bodied parishioners shall report to Sheepdip Lane by the sixth hour on the morning of the first day of November for the clearing of the village midden.
Toby Maltspigot has already indicated that prior commitments may prevent his attendance.
The Office has entered this statement into the record.
