The Village of Middle Woe

Eel Currency

POSTED AT THE MANOR GATE Notice is hereby given,

The Office of the Manorial Clerk reminds all tenants that rents payable in salted eels shall be accepted on Tuesdays only.

For the avoidance of doubt, all eels presented in payment must be suitably salted, correctly bundled, and in a condition appropriate for entry into the manorial accounts.

Live eels shall not be accepted.

This regulation follows the regrettable incident of last month, during which several live eels were introduced into the Clerk's Office.

The Office is pleased to report that the Clerk has made a satisfactory recovery.

The eels have not.

Their present whereabouts remain unknown.

Parishioners are reminded that payment by eel remains an accepted custom.

Payment with eels is not.

Nicholas Marsh Manorial Clerk
