Parish Books
POSTED AT THE DOOR OF ALL HALLOWS CHURCH To the faithful of Middle Woe,
The Churchwardens have completed their annual examination of the parish accounts.
I am pleased to report that the books have, after considerable effort, been brought into satisfactory balance.
The final inventory records:
- Fourteen candles
- Three half-candles
- One unexplained account for "Emergency Ale"
I maintain that the latter expenditure was undertaken solely for the preservation of parish morale during an unusually difficult week.
The Churchwardens remain unconvinced.
May I remind all parishioners that donations of candles are always gratefully received.
Donations of mysterious invoices are not.
