The Village of Middle Woe

The Blacksmith, The Barrel, and The Question of The Goose

POSTED AT THE MANOR GATE To all householders of Middle Woe,

The Office of the Reeve confirms that Roger Blackthorn, village blacksmith, has claimed the protection of sanctuary within All Hallows Church following an unfortunate disagreement involving one barrel of ale, one disputed pig, and several decisions which, in hindsight, appear to have been unwise.

The customary period of sanctuary shall therefore be observed.

Parishioners are reminded that sanctuary does not discharge outstanding debts.

Mr Blackthorn remains liable for his unpaid turnips.

The Office has also received enquiries regarding the eligibility of the village goose to claim sanctuary.

After careful consideration, it has been determined that the goose is not entitled to this protection.

The goose has indicated its intention to ignore this ruling.

Further notices will be posted should circumstances deteriorate further.

Thomas Clodwell Reeve of Middle Woe
