Unregistered Laughter
POSTED AT THE MANOR GATE Notice is hereby given,
Reports of unregistered laughter within the marketplace have recently been brought to the attention of the Office of the Manorial Clerk.
Whilst the Office does not object to laughter in principle, it must nevertheless be observed that spontaneous merriment creates considerable administrative uncertainty.
Accordingly, all laughter shall henceforth be confined to the officially designated period of Thursday, between the hours of three o'clock and three minutes past three, unless prior written exemption has been obtained.
Persons found laughing beyond the approved allocation shall be required to attend the compulsory instructional seminar entitled:
The Correct Management, Suppression and Archival of Unauthorised Cheerful Expressions Within a Community Framework.
The seminar is expected to last approximately 260 hours and shall be completed in a single sitting.
Attendance is compulsory.
Enjoyment is not.
